Ghost Rider give Eva Mendes nightmares
Eva Mendez endured countless sleepless nights while making new comic book movie Ghost Rider, because the creepy film kept giving her nightmares.
The actress became so tired she called in a doctor to help her make it through the night. She says, "I was having nightmares at the end of this. I was in bad shape. I was immersed in this role."
"We were shooting nights, which is the entire night - until six in the morning when the sun comes up. I was in a bad space and it got a little creepy for me and I was having these awful nightmares. I remember seeing a doctor who told me I was freaking myself out."
Eva Mendes shares her Ghost Rider secret
Smokin’ actress admits she finds ‘Ghost Rider’ really, really hot!
Eva Mendes is more accustomed to being the hottest person in the room.
Lately, she’s had to take a backseat to the flaming skull of Nicolas Cage, who plays Ghost Rider in the February film focused on the Marvel character. Wizard caught up with Mendes for a full interview about “Ghost Rider” and here’s what she had to say:
“I play a reporter, Roxanne Simpson, and Roxanne is Ghost Rider’s long lost love,” explained Mendes. “In the movie, it’s great because there’s this sad scene where we’re both young and we’re supposed to run away together. I’m waiting for him in the rain and I see his bike coming, but he makes that decision because he sold his soul to the devil. So it’s this heartbreaking scene and then you catch up with us 10 years later and it’s really romantic and sweet. It has kind of a “Beauty and the Beast” aspect to it.”
But the real star of “Ghost Rider” is Cage and his flaming skull and motorcycle, a fact Mendes is well aware of.
“That skull is hot!” laughed Mendes. “I definitely have superhero envy. I wanted my head to be on fire, I wanted to do all the fun stuff. But Nic got to do all the fun stuff. They wouldn’t let me ride on the motorcycle for insurance reasons. Just in case something silly would have happened it wasn’t allowed, but…darn. No fun. I did get thrown in a harness 100 yards and that was a lot of fun. When the devil comes after us I get thrown 100 feet and I kept messing up so I could just do it over and over again. It was like a ride.”
Eva Mendes: Bombshell explodes
Eva Mendes is trying hard to keep from coming unglued. Things are going too well, too quickly.
She's just been asked to play Will Smith's love interest in the romantic comedy Last First Kiss and she might have to decline because she already has two other offers.
For the first three years of her film career, Mendes languished in such exploitation films as Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, Exit Wounds and Urban Legends: Final Cut.
"I was really depressed. I desperately wanted to be an actress, but all I was getting were dreadful movies. There was no payoff and I didn't see things getting any better," Mendes says.
Then came the offer of a small role opposite Denzel Washington in Training Day.
"As soon as Training Day was released, everything changed quickly.
"I felt so much better about myself as an actress, and offers for much better films started coming in."
Mendes found herself with choice roles in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, 2 Fast 2 Furious and a reteaming with Washington in Out of Time.
As excited as she still is about playing strong women in those dramas, it's her role in Stuck on You that has Mendes bubbling.
In the new Bobby and Peter Farrelly comedy, Mendes plays April, a sweet but vacuous wannabe actress. Read More
